Description
For sample adults whose main job currently has social distancing measures in effect (CVDCURJOBSD), put social distancing measures in effect since the start of the coronavirus pandemic (CVDJOBSDEV), or who had social distancing measures in effect in the past 12 months (CVDMNJOBSD12M), CVDCLSWRKSD indicates how often they worked close to others with social distancing measures in place.
NCHS added nearly 30 questions related to COVID starting in quarter 3 of the 2020 NHIS questionnaire, eight of which are asked of both sample adults and sample children. For the full list of variables, as well as information about COVID-related changes to the NHIS, please see the user note.
Analysts will need to adjust the sampling weights to account for the limited collection period and sample changes in 2020. For an example of how to do this, including sample code, please see the sampling weight adjustment section of the Variance Estimation User Note.

- 2020: Sample adults 18+ interviewed in quarter 3 or 4 whose main job or business currently has social distancing measures in effect (CVDCURJOBSD) or put social distancing measures into effect since the start of the coronavirus pandemic (CVDJOBSDEV), or who had social distancing measures in effect at their main job or business they held in the past 12 months (CVDMNJOBSD12M)
- 2021: Sample adults 18+ whose main job or business currently has social distancing measures in effect (CVDCURJOBSD) or put social distancing measures into effect since the start of the coronavirus pandemic (CVDJOBSDEV), or who had social distancing measures in effect at their main job or business they held in the past 12 months (CVDMNJOBSD12M)
