For sample adults and children in 2012 who had ever used craniosacral therapy (CSTEV) but had either not seen a practitioner for craniosacral therapy in the past 12 months or had never seen a practitioner for craniosacral therapy, CSTUSEYR reports whether they used craniosacral therapy in the past 12 months.

Craniosacral therapy was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the Alternative Health Supplements.

Definitions

The 2012 Field Representative's Manual defines craniosacral therapy as:

Craniosacral therapy is a body-based practice. Practitioners use light touch and manipulation focused on the skull and spine, with the intent of sensing and removing what they refer to as blockages or imbalances that may be contributing to a health condition.

Field representatives were advised to "feel free to offer [this definition] even if the respondent has not requested [it]."
