Description

For sample adults and children in 2012 whose visits to a practitioner for craniosacral therapy in the past 12 months were (at least partly) covered by health insurance, CSTPORT reports whether all or just some of the cost of seeing a practitioner for craniosacral therapy was covered by health insurance.

Craniosacral therapy was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the Alternative Health Supplements.

Definitions

The 2012 Field Representative's Manual defines craniosacral therapy as:

Craniosacral therapy is a body-based practice. Practitioners use light touch and manipulation focused on the skull and spine, with the intent of sensing and removing what they refer to as blockages or imbalances that may be contributing to a health condition.

Field representatives were advised to "feel free to offer [this definition] even if the respondent has not requested [it]."
