Description

For sample persons age 18 and older who ever attempted to quit smoking, CSQUITTP reports a type of time period associated with a numerical response (CSQUITNO) that reports the length of time since the person's most recent attempt to quit smoking that lasted for one day or longer. Users should combine these two variables to determine the length of time since the person's last attempt to quit smoking that lasted for one day or longer. Please see Universe tab for detailed information about who was asked this question.

Comparability

Please see the Universe tab for detailed information on changes in the universe for this question that impact the comparability of this variable across years.
Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
