Description

For sample persons age 18 and older who are current smokers and ever made a serious attempt to quit smoking, CSQUITGR reports the length of time since the start of the person's most recent serious attempt to quit in years or months. Please see the Universe tab for detailed information on who was asked this question.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1990: Sample persons age 18+ who were not asked the smoking questions in the Pregnancy and Smoking section, who ever smoked 100 cigarettes, who smoke cigarettes now or for whom it was unknown whether they smoke now, and who ever made a serious attempt to quit smoking.
