Description

For sample persons age 18 and older who have ever smoked 100 cigarettes in their entire lives, currently smoke every day, and have ever stopped smoking for at least 1 day, CSQDECREV indicates if, when trying to stop smoking, the person ever gradually decreased the number of cigarettes she/he smoked in a day.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes, smoke cigarettes now, smoke every day, and have ever stopped smoking for 1 day or more.
