Description

For sample adults age 18 and older who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes, currently smoke or current smoking status is unknown, and have tried to stop smoking for at least 1 day or it is unknown if she/he ever tried to stop smoking for at least 1 day, CSQCUTDOWNEV indicates if the person gradually decreased the number of cigarettes smoked in a day during her/his last attempt to quit smoking.

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 2000: Sample adults age 18+ who smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their entire lives, who either currently smoke or whose current smoking status is unknown, and who either ever stopped smoking for at least one day to quit or whose ever quitting for a day status is unknown.
