Description

For sample adults over age 18 who have ever smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their life and are current smokers or those who ever smoked every day for at least 6 months, CSMOKDALYCIN indicates the approximate number of cigarettes per day the respondent usually smoked when they smoked regularly. Respondent could report a number (from 1 to 95; values of 95 were recoded to 95+ cigarettes).

Comparability

This variable is only available for 1992.

Universe

  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have smoked at least 100 cigarettes, smoke cigarettes now, smoke some days or indicate that they do not smoke now but smoke some days, smoked at least once in past 30 days/REF/NA/DK how many days smoked in past 30 days, and have ever smoked every day for at least 6 months.
