Description
CROHNSEV identifies sample adults who were ever told by a doctor or other health professional that they had Crohn's disease.
Crohn's disease is an inflammatory bowel disease that can affect any area of the gastrointestinal tract but most commonly affects the lower part of the small intestine. No definition of this condition was given to interviewers or respondents.
The question associated with the variable was included in the Sponsored Conditions-Ever (SCE) supplement and sponsored by the National Center for Chronic Disease Prevention and Health Promotion at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC/NCCDPHP).
Contrary to CROHNEV (available for 1999, 2015, and 2016 samples), where respondents were asked whether they were ever told that they had Crohn's disease or ulcerative colitis, CROHNSEV asks respondents to report only about Crohn's disease.
