Description

For sample adults, CREAMSIZ reports the respondent's average portion size (small, medium, or large) when drinking/using milk or cream in coffee or tea, including non-dairy creamer. A medium portion was defined as 1 tablespoon. Researchers may wish to use CREAMSIZ with CREAMNO, which reports the frequency with which respondents consumed milk or cream in coffee or tea, and CREAMTP, which reports the corresponding time unit.

Comparability

Changes in survey design (e.g., quarters in which the supplement was collected) may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IPUMS NHIS weights.
