Description

For sample children under age 18, COLDYR reports responses to the question, "During the past 12 months, has [sample child] had ... Head or chest cold?"

Comparability

This variable is only available in 2007.

For 1998 forward, COLD2WK indicates whether sample adults and sample children had a head or chest cold that started during the past 2 weeks. In 1999, sample adults who had an affirmative response in COLD2WK were asked a follow-up question about whether they had seen a doctor for this condition (COLDMD2WK).
