For sample adults aged 40 years or older who had been recommended to have a particular test to look for problems in the colon or rectum in the previous 12 months (COLTDR1YR) and who had not had a colonoscopy in the past 10 years, sigmoidoscopy in the past 5 years, CT colonography in the past 5 years, or Cologuard test in the last year, COLCANCOLG indicates whether a physician or other health professional recommended they have a Cologuard to check for colon cancer.
Please refer to COLTDR1YR for a list of the variables covering possible recommended tests for colon or rectal problems.
The 2018 Field Representative's Manual noted: "Cologuard is a new type of stool test to check for colon cancer. Unlike other stool tests, Cologuard looks for changes in DNA in addition to checking for blood in your stool. The Cologuard test is shipped to your home in a box that includes a container for your stool sample."
