Description

For persons who had schizophrenia, paranoid or delusional disorder, manic episodes or manic depression, major depression, severe personality disorder, Alzheimer's or other senile disorder, alcohol abuse disorder, drug abuse disorder, mental retardation, or other serious mental or emotional disorder in the past 12 months, CMIOTMHP indicates when the person last saw or talked to a non-mental health professional about his/her mental disorder(s). Examples of mental health professionals in the survey include psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and psychiatric nurses.

CMIOTMHP is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of illness, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
