Description

For persons who mentioned that they had manic episodes in the past 12 months and whose doctor or health professional never gave a diagnosis of manic episodes but had ever used a more technical or specific name to refer to this mental disorder, CMIMANIWC reports when the person's doctor or health professional first used this specific or technical name to refer to the person's manic episodes.

This variable is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of mental illnesses, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
