Description

For persons who mentioned that they had manic depression in the past 12 months and whose health professional never gave a diagnosis of manic depression but had ever used another technical or specific name to refer to manic depression, CMIMANDWC reports when the person's doctor or health professional first used this technical or specific name to refer to his/her manic depression disorder.

This variable is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of mental illnesses, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
