Description

For persons who mentioned that they had any major depression in the past 12 months and whose doctor or health professional never gave a diagnosis of major depression but had ever used another technical or specific name to refer to major depression, CMIMAJDCALL reports the technical or specific name that was used by the doctor or health professional to refer to major depression.

This variable is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of mental illnesses, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
