Description

For sample persons who had schizophrenia, paranoid or delusional disorder, manic episodes or manic depression, major depression, severe personality disorder, Alzheimer's or other senile disorder, or other serious mental or emotional disorder in the past 12 months, who had ever seen a mental health professional or other health professional about this disorder, and who took any prescription medication for this disorder during the past 12 months, CMIHOWMANY reports the number of different medications that the sample person took in the past 12 months for their mental disorder(s).

CMIHOWMANY is part of the Mental Health Supplement in 1989 that collects information on the amount and distribution of illness, its effects in terms of disability and chronic impairments, and the kinds of services people receive.
