Description

For respondents age 17 who currently smoke cigars, this variable reports the size of the cigar the respondent usually smoked. Respondents could answer, "full-sized," "cigarillos," or "cigarette size." The Field Representative's Manual noted interviewers if the respondent smoked more than one size, the interview should mark the size the person usually smokes the most or the size preferred.

A cigar was respondent-defined. Note that in the 1970 survey, a respondent representing the family (a proxy) could answer the question associated with CIGARSIZE for all other family members over age 17.
