For sample persons ages 18 and over, CHOLCHEKEV reports if the person ever had his or her blood cholesterol checked.

CHOLCHEKEV was part of the Health Promotion and Disease Prevention (HPDP) supplement in 1990; supplements were included to assist the government in targeting funding for various health programs. The HPDP supplement included questions about pregnancy and smoking, general health habits, mammography, injury control and child safety and health, radon, cardiovascular disease, stress, exercise, smoking, and alcohol use.
