Description
For sample persons ages 18 and older who have at least one biological child who has been diagnosed by a doctor with cancer and reported a valid cancer code for the first child with known cancer, CH1CAN2 reports whether the first child was ever diagnosed with any other type of cancer by a doctor. Please use drop down menus for related variables.
NHIS released versions of this variable for up to five biological children who were ever diagnosed with cancer, but there were no in-universe responses for three, four, or five children with cancer. As such, these variables are not included in IPUMS NHIS.
