Description
For sample persons ages 18 and older who have at least one biological child who was diagnosed by a doctor as having cancer for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code and the first child with cancer is known to be dead, CH1AGED reports the age at which the first child died. NHIS released versions of this variable for up to five biological children who were ever diagnosed with cancer, but there were no in-universe responses for three, four, or five children with cancer. As such, these variables are not included in IPUMS NHIS.
