Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who reported that at least one biological child was ever diagnosed with cancer by a doctor for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code, CH1AGEC reports the age at which the sample person's first child with cancer was first diagnosed as having cancer.

NHIS released versions of this variable for up to five biological children who were ever diagnosed with cancer, but there were no in-universe responses for three, four, or five children with cancer. As such, these variables are not included in IPUMS NHIS.
