Description
For sample persons age 18 and over, CANMOSIGN reports what the person thought was an early sign of mouth cancer. Respondents were not given any prompting and interviewers reported one of five categories (or "other") that best matched the respondent's answer. See the codes tab for response categories.
CANMOSIGN was introduced as part of the 1990 Health Promotion and Disease Prevention Supplement; the question for CANMOSIGN came from the section on dental care. For related variables and more information, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
