Description

For sample persons age 18 and over, CANCAUSE reports responses to the question, "Please tell me which of these you think causes more cancer in the United States". Respondents were handed a card with two choices: a) personal behaviors or b) factors they have little control over, such as environmental pollution or family history. They could choose one or both reasons, or some other reason.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement).
