Description

For sample adults aged 40 and older who have ever had a home blood stool test and reported the time since the last home blood stool test in a number and time period format, BSTHLTP reports the type of time unit (days, weeks, months, or years). BSTHLTP should be used alongside BSTHLNO, which reports the number of time units since the last home blood stool test.

Comparability

Aside from slight changes in wording, this variable is comparable over time. In 2015, the wording of the question asking whether respondents had ever had a home blood stool test BSTHEV changed slightly to more inclusive language. Prior to 2015, respondents were asked whether they ever had "a blood stool test, using a HOME test kit?" Beginning in 2015, respondents were asked whether they had ever had "a blood stool or FIT test, using a HOME test kit?"
