For persons over age 40 who have heard of blood stool tests, BSTEVAB reports whether the person ever had an abnormal blood stool test (unspecified type).
A blood stool test may also be known as a hemocult.
The 1987 Fields Representative's Manual noted not to ask follow-up question for non-normal blood stool tests that were self-administered, as follow-up questions were intended for medically diagnosed results.
