Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults, BROCSIZ reports the portion size (small, medium, or large) eaten each time the respondent ate broccoli. A medium-sized portion was defined as ½ cup. Researchers may wish to use BROCSIZ in conjunction with BROCNO, which reports the frequency with which the respondent ate broccoli, and BROCTP, which reports the corresponding time unit.
BROCSIZ is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
