For sample females who have had a breast physical exam in the past three years because of a specific health or breast problem, BREXWHYLUMP reports whether the problem that led to the exam was lumps.

  • 1987: Half of female sample persons age 40+ (excluded from CAEP) who have ever heard of breast physical exam, who have ever had a breast physical exam, and who had the last exam in the past 3 years because of a health problem.
  • 1992: Half of female sample persons age 30+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement) who have ever had a breast physical exam, whose most recent exam was in the past 3 years, and whose main reason for last exam was because of a specific breast problem.
