Description

For sample females who know how to examine their own breasts for lumps, BREXSELFNO reports the frequency with which the respondent examines her breasts, in units. BREXSELFNO should be used in conjunction with BREXSELFTP, which reports the associated time period (e.g., day, week, month, or year).

BREXSELFNO was first introduced as part of a supplement on cancer control. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.

Comparability

Changes in the sampling universe (e.g., age) may affect comparability over time. Researchers should use caution when making comparison across years.
