Description
For sample females, BREXSELF reports whether or not the respondent knows how to examine her own breasts for lumps.
BREXSELF was first introduced as part of a supplement on health promotion and disease prevention. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
Universe
- 1985; 1990: Female sample persons age 18+.
- 1987: Half of female sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CAEP supplement).
- 1992: Half of female sample persons age 30+ in quarters 1 and 2 and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement).
