For sample adults and children in 2012 whose have seen a practitioner for biofeedback in the past 12 months, BIOBOOK reports whether they bought a self-help book or other materials such as a DVD, CD, or video to learn about biofeedback. For sample children, BIOBOOK reports whether a family member bought a self-help book or other materials to learn about the sample child's use of biofeedback.
Biofeedback was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the Alternative Health Supplements.
The 2012 Field Representative's Manual defines biofeedback as:
Field representatives were advised to "feel free to offer [this definition] even if the respondent has not requested [it]."
Additional information about the use of biofeedback was collected for respondents who reported using biofeedback in the past 12 months, including variables on frequency and cost of use. Please use the IPUMS NHIS drop-down menus and search function to explore these variables.
