Description
For sample adults and children in 2012 whose have seen a traditional healer in the past 12 months, FOKBOOK reports whether they bought a self-help book or other materials such as a DVD, CD, or video to learn about traditional healing. For sample children, FOKBOOK reports whether a family member bought a self-help book or other materials to learn about the sample child's use of traditional healing.
Traditional healing was one of many alternative health treatment modalities included in the Alternative Health Supplements.

Additional information about the use of traditional healing was collected for respondents who reported using traditional healing in the past 12 months, including variables on frequency and cost of use. Please use the IPUMS NHIS drop-down menus and search function to explore these variables.
