Description

For persons who were not insured continuously in the past year without any changes, HIMEDIGAPYR reports whether in the past 12 months, the person had Medi-Gap coverage.

If the person was uninsured, interviewers asked the type of coverage the person most recently had. If the person had a period without coverage in the past year, interviewers asked about the type of coverage before this period of uninsurance. If person had a change in coverage type in the past year, interviewers asked about the type of coverage prior to the change in coverage.

Comparability

There are no comparability problems for HIMEDIGAPYR.

Universe

  • 2011-2013; 2014 2015 2016 2017 2018: All persons except those with continuous coverage who are currently insured for more than 1 year with no changes.
