Description

For sample persons ages 18 and older who reported that at least one other biological parent of the person's child(ren) was ever diagnosed with cancer by a doctor for which the sample person gave a valid cancer code, OP1AGEC reports the age at which the first other parent with cancer was first diagnosed as having cancer.

Versions of this variable are available for up to three biological parents of the person's children. Please use the drop down menu and search function for related variables.

Comparability

There are no comparability issues with this variable.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT supplement) who have at least 1 child (or an unknown number of children) and for whom the first reported other parent of respondent's children was ever diagnosed with cancer and had a valid cancer code.
