Description
For sample adults over age 40 who did not have (2000) or either had or did not have a home blood stool test (2005 forward), BSTHDR1YR reports whether a doctor recommended the home blood stool test in the past 12 months.
Comparability
Analysts should refer to the universe tab for specific but minor changes in the universe across years. To summarize these changes, for 2000, this question was only asked of sample adults over 40 who did not have a home blood stool test; for 2005 forward, the question was also asked of persons who had home blood stool tests.
Universe
- 2000: Sample adults age 40+ who have not had a home blood stool test in the past year or ever and gave reason other than "no doctor" or "doctor didn't recommend."
- 2005: Sample adults age 40+ who have had a home blood stool test, or who have not had a home blood stool test in the past year or ever and gave reason other than "no doctor" or "doctor didn't recommend."
- 2008: Sample adults 40+ who have either had or not had a home fecal occult test.
