Codes and Frequencies
Description
For sample adults age 18 and older, SNUFFSTATUS3 is a recoded variable that reports whether the sample person formerly, currently, or never used snuff and the frequency of using snuff. Please refer to the code tab for more information.
SNUFFSTATUS3 was built on three questions in the survey. The first question asked whether the sample person had ever used snuff, such as Skoal, Skoal Bandits, and Copenhagen. Responses to this question were used to indicate whether the sample person formerly used snuff. The second question reported whether the sample person had used snuff at least 20 times in the past. The sample person was placed in the "regularly" group if he/she had previously used snuff at least 20 times; otherwise, he/she was pooled into the "occasional" group. The last question asked whether the sampler person was using snuff at the time of the interview, which was used to indicate whether the person was a current user of snuff.
