Description

For sample adults who answered "yes" to ALC5DAY, indicating that there was a period in their lives when they had five or more alcoholic beverages a day almost every day, ALC5DAYTP indicates the type of time units in which they reported having five or more alcoholic beverages almost every day. Possible time units are days, weeks, months, or years. Number of time units is reported in the variable ALC5DAYNO.

Comparability

This variable is only available in 1987 as part of the Cancer Risk Factor Supplement.

Universe

  • 1987: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from CACT supplement) who ever had a period when they had 5+ alcoholic drinks almost every day.
