Description

For sample adults age 18 and older in 1998, and, in all other years, sample adults age 18 and older who what stress was, STRESAMTYR reports whether the sample person experienced a lot of stress, a moderate amount of stress, relatively little stress, or almost no stress at all in the past 12 months.

Comparability

Changes in the universe may affect raw frequencies, but do not affect comparability of the variable. As always, data users should use the prescribed IHIS weights.

Universe

  • 1990: Sample persons age 18+ who knew what stress was.
  • 1993: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 3 and 4 (excluded from AIDS supplement) who knew what stress was.
  • 1995: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from AIDS supplement) who knew what stress was.
  • 1998: Sample adults age 18+.
