Description

For respondents age 18 who have ever smoked at least 50 cigars, and who indicated they did not now smoke cigars, this variable indicates if the respondent smokes not at all (IPUMS NHIS recode of "1") or some days (IHIS recode "2").

 

A cigar was respondent-defined.

Comparability

This variable is only available for 1991.
