For sample persons age 18 and older who ever had diverticulitis and did not say they never saw a doctor for diverticulitis, DIVHOSPEV indicates if she/he has ever been in the hospital overnight for diverticulitis.

This variable is part of the 1989 Digestive Disorders supplement, fielded to provide data on the nature and prevalence of symptoms attributed to disorders of the lower digestive tract in the adult population.
