Comparability
In 1989 the question that corresponds with DIAGLUCHI6M was only asked of respondents who had checked their blood glucose themselves, or had it checked by a friend, family member, or health professional in the past 6 months. In 1991, respondents who responded that they or a friend, family member, or health professional had not checked their blood glucose in the past 6 months were automatically given a value of 0. Users may choose to add these respondents to the NIU category, making the variables completely comparable.
