Description
HAKBEST reports responses to the question, "If you thought someone was having a heart attack, what is the BEST thing to do right away?" Valid responses for HAKBEST included "Advise them to drive to the hospital," "Advise them to call their physician," "Call 9-1-1 (or another emergency number)," "Call spouse or family member," and "Other."
The website for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute (a division of the National Institutes of Health) provides the following advice: "If you think a heart attack is happening, the most important thing to remember is this--call 9-1-1 in 5 minutes or less."
