Description

HEALTHCLASYR indicates whether the respondent took a class or attended a presentation on health topics in the previous 12 months. In 1995, this question was asked of sample adults 65 years and older who did not have meals delivered by an organization (or for whom it is unknown whether the respondent had meals delivered). In 1998, this question was asked of sample adults 65 years and older.

Comparability

Apart from the universe changes, this variable is comparable over time.

Universe

  • 1995: Half of sample persons age 65+ (excluded from AIDS supplement) who do not have meals delivered by an organization or for whom this information is unknown
  • 1998: Sample adults age 65+.
