Description
For sample adults who were ever told by a doctor or other health professional that they had diabetes (other than during pregnancy) (DIABETICEV), DIAFTEXAMTP reports the type of time unit (days, weeks, months, or years) sample adults used when answering the open-ended question, "About how often do you check your feet for sores or irritations?" DIAFTEXAMTP should be used in conjunction with DIAFTEXAMNO, which reports the number of (time) units stated in response to the same question. Separate responses were recorded for those who never checked their feet and for those who indicated they were unable to do this type of activity.
For related variables see DIABETICEV, or use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
