Description
For only sample adults in 2015, sample adults and sample children ages 6-17 in 2020, and only sample children ages 6-17 in 2022, WLKCRIME reports if crime makes it unsafe to walk where they live. For sample children, the question further specifies that crime makes it unsafe to walk or ride a bike, even with an adult.
WLKCRIME is part of a series of variables about a person's perceptions of their walking environment. Please see WLKHOME for the full list of variables.

The NHIS questionnaire was substantially redesigned in 2019 to introduce a different data collection structure and new content.
