Description
For all persons in 1991-1992 and persons in 1993-1996 who received welfare, Aid for Families with Dependent Children (AFDC/ADC), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) general assistance, or cash assistance during the month prior to the interview , WELFMOFLAG indicates the persons whose information on the number of months receiving welfare in the past year (WELFMO) was imputed.

[show more]WELFMOFLAG is part of the Family Resources supplement that provides information on individuals' health benefits, amount of coverage and income received from employment, welfare benefits, public assistance, and savings during the month prior to the interview. Unlike the core survey, all missing data in this supplement were imputed by the NHIS.
Universe
- 1991-1992: All persons
- 1993: All persons in quarters 3 and 4 who received public assistance income last month and who did not live in a single or married-couple family with more than $20,000 in annual family income
- 1994-1996: All persons who received public assistance income last month and who did not live in a single or married-couple family with more than $20,000 in annual family income
