Description
For persons under age 18, WATEMPKNOWCH reports whether the child's household sample person knew the temperature of the hot water in their home. Follow-up questions include whether the approximate temperature was high, medium or low, or the approximate temperature in degrees. The answer provided by the household sample adult was applied to the person record for any children under age 18 in the household; children's records should not be interpreted as meaning that the child knew the temperature of the hot water in their home.
WATEMPKNOWCH was part of the Health Prevention and Disease Promotion supplement periodically included in the NHIS which helped measure national goals towards the Healthy People Initiative of the U.S. Surgeon General. Please use the IPUMS NHIS drop down menu and search functions for related variables.
