Description
For sample adults ages 18 and older who ate coleslaw, cabbage, or sauerkraut in the past year, SLAWSIZ reports the size of the portion consumed (small, medium, or large). A medium portion was defined as ½ cup. Researchers may wish to use SLAWSIZ in conjunction with SLAWNO, which reports the number of units of coleslaw, cabbage, or sauerkraut consumed and SLAWTP, which reports the corresponding time period.
SLAWSIZ is part of a series of variables initiated in 1987 related to food, food knowledge, and cancer. For related variables, please use the IPUMS NHIS search function and drop-down menus.
