SEIZUREV reports if a sample adult has ever been diagnosed as having seizures by a doctor or other health professional.

Seizures were not defined in the survey documentation but were grouped with epilepsy in questions relating to conditions that limited an individual's activity. Other possible causes of seizures in adults include structural damage to the brain, such as head injury, stroke, or tumor.

For 1997 forward, SEIZUREYR identifies sample children who had seizures during the past 12 months.
