Description
For sample persons age 18 and older, QUITWKUSE reports if, in the past year, the person has participated in a quit smoking program that was made available by his/her employer. Please see universe tab for detailed information about who was asked this question.
Comparability
There are minor changes in the universe statement between years, as outlined in the Universe tab, which impact the comparability of this variable over time. Users are advised to consider the impact that changes in the universe may have on their analyses when using data from multiple years.
Universe
- 1992: Half of sample persons age 18+ in quarters 1 and 2, and in 2 weeks of quarter 3 (excluded from CAEP supplement).
- 1994: Half of sample persons age 18+ (excluded from AIDS supplement) who were employed last week in the private sector or in federal, state, or local government, who had smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their entire lifetime, and whose employers offered help to quit smoking.
- 1998: Sample adults age 18+ who were working or absent from a job last week in the private sector or federal, state, or local government, who smoked at least 100 cigarettes in their entire lifetime, and whose employers offered a quit smoking program.
